The flavours of this curry are warm, velvety, and deeply comforting. Called Parippu in Sinhala, this is Sri Lanka's everyday essential—the lentil curry that appears on almost every island table.
While many lentil curries lean heavy on spices alone, ours is built on simplicity and balance. Creamy red lentils are simmered until soft, then lifted by sweet caramelised onion, fresh garlic, and a gentle warmth from coriander and turmeric. Red and green chillies provide a mild, pleasant heat, while curry leaf and pandan leaf weave through with their signature aromatic fragrance.
The result is pure comfort: smooth, nourishing, and quietly spiced. The coconut milk powder creates that signature velvety texture without overpowering the lentils.
